Vu Thi Huong

An Giang police arrested teacher Vu Thi Huong on the charge of "abusing democratic freedoms" on May 16, 2026. According to An Giang police, Huong continuously submitted petitions and complaints on behalf of many other people. Police also stated that the competent authorities have reviewed and resolved Huong’s complaints and accusations in accordance with regulations. However, as she disagreed with the outcome, Huong continues to demand that the matter be resolved according to her own views. The police accused many contents in Huong’s petition of being “false, distorted, defamatory, and slanderous,” “damaging the reputation of many agencies, organizations, and individuals,” and at the same time “negatively affecting the security and social order situation in the locality.” State media reported the arrest of Huong without specifying the exact rights she petitioned for or the duration of her actions.
